Before that fateful Halloween night Sophie Bloom was just an ordinary sixteen-year-old stuck in a boarding school by a cold-hearted mother. The mean yoga girls led by the evil Bethany were the bane of her existence, and her besties Hannah and Theo always had her back. All the ordinary disappears when Sophie hatches a plan to foil a secret tryst that Bethany arranged with a mystery guy. Disguised as the queen of mean Sophie sneaks off to meet to sabotage the rendezvous. Dreamy bad boy Kai wastes no time locking lips with “Bethany”. Big mistake. That epic kiss unlocks Sophie’s true identity: Persephone, Goddess of Spring. What the what? Now her problems are anything but ordinary. Zeus and Hades are both making a play at world domination, which includes the human world and Sophie appears to be the key to saving humanity. In order to do that she needs to reclaim her goddess powers and regain her Persephone memories, which include some pretty intense make out sessions with Kai, Prince of the Underworld, aka The Ex From Hell. Literally.

My Ex From Hell is a slim volume that packs a mighty comedic punch. This fresh retelling of the Persephone story is full of smart and sassy characters, snappy dialogue, and heart-racing action. And kissing. The more I think about, the more I realize that there really isn’t much more to say about it. It’s hilarious and fun, what more do  you need to know? I loved it and can’t wait for My Date From Hell.

  1. I love books that link mythology. Add comedy and it sounds like it could be pretty awesome!
